Kerala police are probing Mridanga Vision, a cultural group accused of orchestrating a fraudulent mass dance event. The incident at Kochi's Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium resulted in serious injuries to Congress MLA Uma Thomas and highlighted multiple legal violations.
The Palarivattam Police slapped charges on four of the group's officers on allegations of cheating and breach of trust. A participant's parent filed a complaint alleging the group collected substantial sums from over 12,000 participants, promising them a chance in a Guinness Records event.
As the participants prepared for a traditional dance performance, the ceremony took a grim turn with Thomas falling 15 feet from the VIP gallery, suffering head and spinal injuries. Security lapses led to the arrest of an event management company manager, as authorities investigate the scandal further.
