Muzaffarpur, a historic district in Bihar, marked 150 years since its founding on January 1, 1875. Known for its fertile lands and rich cultural heritage, it is celebrated for the world-famous 'shahi litchis' and lac bangles, traditionally sought after during wedding seasons.

Discovered in archival documents, the exact date of Muzaffarpur's establishment traced back to the administrative split of the Tirhut district in the Bengal Presidency. The district is rich in history, with prominent figures like freedom fighter Khudiram Bose calling it home.

Despite modernization efforts, local authorities affirm commitment to preserving British-era architectural landmarks that dot Muzaffarpur, such as the Collectorate and other historical buildings adversely affected by the 1934 earthquake.
