Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has unveiled plans to create a university that focuses on the documentation and research of indigenous cultures, faiths, and languages. This announcement was made during a meeting with the International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS).
Khandu emphasized the importance of preserving the rich traditions and heritage of the region through higher education. He indicated that the university would emulate the success of the Research Institute of World's Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) in promoting the Idu Mishmi culture.
The proposal is still in its initial stages, and Khandu believes that such an institute could greatly strengthen the cultural identity and educational outreach for the indigenous community in Arunachal Pradesh.
