Esteemed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur announced the commencement of production for 'Masoom 2', the eagerly awaited sequel to his 1983 classic. Original stars Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah will reprise their roles, joined by acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee and Kapur's daughter, Kaveri.
The revelation came during the curtain raiser press conference for the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in New Delhi. Kapur expressed his excitement for the sequel, slated to begin filming in February-March 2025, and shared a serendipitous story about nearly losing the script during a flight but receiving it back with a note from a fan.
Kapur, who serves as festival director at IFFI, highlighted the importance of celebrating Indian cinema on the global stage, urging for a celebration of the OTT medium and cautioning against reliance on AI in filmmaking. The festival will take place in Goa from November 20 to 28.
