During a campaign rally in Latur, Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh made a compelling case for prioritizing development over the fear-driven narratives around religion. Speaking on behalf of his brother, Dhiraj Deshmukh, who is competing in the Latur (Rural) assembly seat, Riteish articulated the actor's and the Congress party's vision for Maharashtra.
Riteish underscored the teachings of Lord Krishna, asserting that genuine work is akin to religion, and that only those who neglect their duties cling to religious pretexts. He criticized those claiming their religion is endangered, suggesting that their political party is what's truly at risk.
Addressing vital issues, Riteish spoke about the scarcity of jobs for educated youth and inadequate pricing for farmers' produce, urging voters to embrace progress. He called upon the rising generation to wield their votes wisely to uphold dignity, rights, and Maharashtra's cultural identity.
