The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is facing backlash following their organization of an unscheduled Rath Yatra in Houston, United States.
The event featured a replica of the traditional Nandighosa chariot, but notably omitted the deities of Lord Jagannath and others, which triggered strong reactions from devotees and officials in Odisha.
Despite prior assurances to local authorities that such an event would not take place outside India, ISKCON proceeded with the parade, drawing criticism and calls for action against the organization. Further meetings between ISKCON and Puri officials are anticipated to resolve the dispute.
