Angelina Jolie is set to be honored with the Performer Tribute at this year's 34th edition of the Gotham Awards in New York City. The Oscar-winning actress will be acknowledged for her compelling role in the film 'Maria,' directed by Pablo Larrain, which narrates the life of iconic opera singer Maria Callas.
The prestigious award ceremony will take place on December 2 at Cipriani Wall Street. Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gothams, emphasized Jolie's remarkable ability to transcend mere acting, capturing the essence and artistic complexity of the legendary Callas.
The film, scripted by Steven Knight and presented on Netflix, debuted at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. It explores Callas's final days, her quest for identity, and features an ensemble cast including Pierfrancesco Favino and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
