Diwali Devastation: Fires and Injuries Sweep Odisha
During Diwali celebrations in Odisha, two people died and 50 were injured in various fire incidents. Property worth lakhs was damaged, with a Puri town firecracker explosion causing two deaths. Two people lost their lives and fifty sustained injuries in multiple fire outbreaks across Odisha during Diwali festivities, police confirmed on Friday.
Valuable property worth lakhs was destroyed in the fires that flared on Thursday night, authorities reported. Tragically, two minor boys perished from severe burn injuries following a firecracker explosion in Puri town.
Confirmed fatalities include Sanjay Jena and Bula Rout, while Lipa Rout, a relative, suffered critical burns and is receiving medical care. Puri's Superintendent of Police Vinit Agarwal assured that an investigation is being conducted, with stern measures to be taken against unlawful firecracker manufacturers.
