The Delhi High Court has issued a directive to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to address a petition regarding the enforcement of accessibility guidelines in films for individuals with hearing and visual disabilities.
Justice Sanjeev Narula responded to a plea from Suman Bhokray, who is visually impaired, by asking for a detailed reply from the authorities within a four-week timeline.
The petition underscores that films like "Vettaiyan" and "Martin," released after September 14, failed to comply with mandatory accessibility features stipulated in the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The next hearing is scheduled for January 21.
