Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma lauded Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's pivotal role in unifying India by integrating princely states, as he flagged off the 'Run for Unity - Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' marathon at Amar Jawan Jyoti.
Sharma emphasized that Patel's determination was instrumental in forging national unity after independence. The chief minister noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the construction of the Statue of Unity, the world's tallest statue, as a tribute to Patel's statesmanship, marking it as a symbol of India's unity and integrity. Iron for the statue was contributed by people from across the nation, including Rajasthan.
During Diwali, Sharma also visited his native Atari village in Bharatpur district, where he sought blessings from his mother and interacted with village elders, inquiring about their wellbeing before engaging in festive greetings.
