Hollywood megastars Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz are joining forces once more for the upcoming thriller 'Day Drinker', which is being produced by Lionsgate. The project will be directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on '500 Days of Summer' and the 'Amazing Spider-Man' films featuring Andrew Garfield.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Day Drinker' follows the story of a cruise ship bartender who encounters a mysterious day drinker. The two soon find themselves entwined within a labyrinth of criminal intrigue, and their fates becoming unexpectedly interconnected.

This film marks the fourth cinematic partnership between Depp and Cruz after successful collaborations in projects such as 'Blow', 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides', and 'Murder on the Orient Express'. While Chelsea Kujawa supervises the film for Lionsgate, Dan Freedman has negotiated deals for the studio. Notably, this is Depp's most prominent role following personal controversies and comes after the premiere of his directorial film 'Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness'. Cruz has also remained active, recently appearing in the 2023 sports drama 'Ferrari'.
