The Indian government is formulating a new broadcast policy in response to concerns about Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms not following self-regulation standards, said Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan.
Minister Murugan, accompanied by top Ministry officials, revealed that extensive discussions are underway to allow private FM radio channels to broadcast news, expanding beyond All India Radio's offerings.
During an outreach program in Chennai, aimed at attracting bidders for the private FM radio auction, Murugan emphasized the Ministry's intent to gather input from industry and public before parliamentary introduction, underlining radio as a vital medium with widespread reach.
