In a poignant ceremony in Jaipur, Rajasthan Director General of Police Utkal Ranjan Sahoo commemorated the valiant sacrifice made by Indian police personnel 65 years ago in Ladakh. Speaking at a state-level programme at the Rajasthan Police Academy, Sahoo paid tribute to the fallen heroes whose legacy embodies unparalleled devotion to duty.

The event was organized on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, where Sahoo urged attendees to draw inspiration from the martyrs and commit themselves to honest service to the nation. He highlighted the significance of the day, marking the 1959 incident where policemen laid down their lives in Ladakh's harsh terrain to safeguard the motherland.

In an emotional tribute, DGP Sahoo read out the names of 216 police officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024. The ceremony concluded with a guard of honour for the martyred officers, followed by a wreath-laying tribute at the Police Memorial at Trimurti Circle.
