In a powerful demonstration of dissent, junior doctors in Kolkata launched the 'Droher Carnival' protest on Tuesday, following the Calcutta High Court's revocation of prohibitory orders near the Durga Puja Carnival venue. The protest, held at Rani Rashmoni Road, saw participation from citizens across various backgrounds, all uniting to demand justice for the murdered medic from RG Kar Medical College.

Debasish Halder, one of the organizing doctors, expressed the protest as a manifestation of public frustration against the West Bengal government's perceived insensitivity. The protest was marked by chants and songs calling for justice, with participants holding posters displaying the junior doctors' demands. The young medics have been on a fast-unto-death since October 5, drawing attention to their cause.

The 'Droher Carnival,' orchestrated by the Joint Platform of Doctors, took place alongside the ongoing Durga Puja Carnival, an event that highlights West Bengal's cultural vibrancy through award-winning idols. The contrasting events underscore the juxtaposition of cultural celebration and civil unrest, throwing the spotlight on the pressing issues faced by healthcare professionals.
