Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary Reopens: Gateway to Rhinoceros Paradise

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam, celebrated for its thriving population of one-horned rhinoceroses, has reopened to tourists following a seasonal monsoon closure. The event was officiated by Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika, heralding the start of another vibrant tourist season.
Visitors to the sanctuary can look forward to exploring the lush, biodiverse habitat via twenty jeeps and thirteen elephants designated for safari tours. These guided experiences offer a chance to witness the sanctuary's impressive roster of wildlife, including the famed rhinoceros.
Closed since May, the sanctuary spans 38.85 square kilometers and safeguards over 100 rhinoceroses, upwards of 500 wild buffaloes, thousands of deer, and some 385 species of migratory birds, making it a premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
