Veteran actor Anthony Hopkins is set to star in 'Maserati: The Brothers,' an English-language biopic under the direction of Bobby Moresco. The film delves into the history of the family behind Italy's high-performance automobiles, similar to Ferrari and Lamborghini. Hopkins will portray an Italian financier who plays a pivotal role in the Maserati legacy by funding the brothers' ambitious endeavors.

The film, which gains momentum with support from Italy's Andrea Iervolino via The Andrea Iervolino Company, marks an exciting addition to the biographical cinematic landscape. Previously, Iervolino collaborated with Monika Bacardi as part of the ILBE Group, where the pair produced Moresco's 'Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend' and Michael Mann's 'Ferrari,' starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. Iervolino expressed his excitement, stating, 'Having Anthony Hopkins on board is a dream come true. His unparalleled ability to embody complex characters will undoubtedly elevate our story.'

While further details on the project remain under wraps, the Maserati saga is rooted deeply in Italian history. Founded in 1914 by brothers Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto in Bologna, Maserati carved its niche in the luxury automobile world. Its emblem, derived from the Fountain of Neptune, symbolizes its racing pedigree, with Alfieri famously driving the 'Type 26' in the 1927 Messina Cup before a tragic accident led to his untimely death. The brothers sold a controlling stake in 1937, and today the brand is owned by Fiat.
