Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai took action against a construction company on Monday, imposing a fine of Rs 50,000 for breaching anti-dust norms at a sports complex site in Pitampura, Northwest Delhi.
The minister, who paid a visit to the site, expressed his determination to enforce the rules, warning of stricter penalties for contractors failing to comply with guidelines. Rai emphasized the significance of these measures, noting that despite prior instructions, the necessary actions were not implemented.
During a campaign to curb dust pollution, initiated on October 7 by the Delhi government, Rai gathered 120 private and government construction agencies to urge adherence to anti-dust protocols. He announced the formation of 523 teams to inspect construction sites citywide.
