In a grim development, Baba Siddique, a former minister in Maharashtra and a celebrated figure within Bollywood circles, was fatally shot in Mumbai. Siddique, 66, was widely praised for procuring critical medicines for patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Siddique was not just a political stalwart representing Bandra (West) thrice in the Maharashtra Assembly; he was also a beloved host of extravagant Iftar parties frequented by top Bollywood personalities including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
His strategic shift to the NCP earlier this year bolstered the party's prospects in Mumbai's Muslim wards ahead of major elections. Tragically, Siddique's life was abruptly ended by gunfire near his son's office, leaving behind a rich legacy in both political and cultural spheres.
