Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand will shut its doors for the winter season at 9:07 PM on November 17, as confirmed by the temple committee on Saturday.
The closure date and time were set using age-old traditions conducted on Vijayadashami, considering the Hindu calendar and celestial positions, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee Chairman Ajendra Ajay reported.
This year, Badrinath saw more than 11 lakh pilgrims, while Kedarnath had over 13.5 lakh. Kedarnath is scheduled to close on November 3, Yamunotri on November 3, Gangotri on November 2, Rudranath on October 17, Tungnath on November 4, and Madhyamaheshwar on November 20. These Uttarakhand temples attract many visitors but must close in winter due to snow.
