Renowned shehnai maestro Surajmani, famously dubbed the 'Bismillah Khan of Himachal,' passed away at 63 in AIIMS-Bilaspur. His death was confirmed by officials on Friday.

Suffering from chronic pancreatitis, Surajmani died on Thursday, leaving behind his wife and two sons. Hailing from the village of Chachiot in Mandi district's Nachan area, he was a revered figure known for preserving the musical traditions of Himachal Pradesh.

Surajmani's performances graced both local and international stages, earning him wide acclaim. Tributes poured in from across the state, including from Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who lauded his contributions to art and culture.
