In a vibrant display of cultural heritage, the SARAS Ajeevika Mela is set to bring together over 900 women artisans from 30 states in Gurugram from October 13 through October 29. This initiative, championed by the Rural Development Ministry and the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), will showcase an array of traditional crafts, including Tussar and Patola sarees, Bagh and Rajasthani prints, handloom items from Kashmir, and natural foodstuffs from various regions.

The Mela serves a dual purpose of not only spotlighting diverse artisanal skills but also empowering women through livelihood training. Women from self-help groups will gain insights into different means of earning a livelihood, with dedicated programs designed to enhance their skills and socio-economic status.

Adding to the cultural milieu, a SARAS Food Court, with 50 food stalls from 25 states, will tantalize taste buds, while a North-East Pavilion will spotlight the unique offerings of that region. Since 1999, SARAS Melas have played a crucial role in improving the lives of countless women across rural India.
