Mumbai witnessed an outpouring of grief on Thursday as the nation mourned the passing of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, who died at 86 at Breach Candy Hospital. Actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav paid heartfelt tribute, describing him as a 'Bharat Ratna' and inspiration since childhood.
Aamir Khan and ex-wife Kiran Rao echoed the sentiments, acknowledging Tata's invaluable impact on India. Khan emphasized the void left by Tata's demise, describing it as a significant loss. Rao expressed sadness over his passing, highlighting his contributions to the nation.
In a gesture reflecting his stature, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Tata would be accorded full state honors. Tata's remains were displayed at the NCPA for public respects before moving to Worli Crematorium for final rites. Union Ministers Amit Shah and Piyush Goyal, alongside state leaders, paid their respects, marking an end to an era of unparalleled business acumen and nationalism.
