Industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata was laid to rest with full state honours at a central Mumbai crematorium on Thursday evening. The ceremony was marked by a gun salute from the Mumbai police, reflecting the high esteem in which he was held.

Family members, including his half-brother Noel Tata, along with Tata Group executives such as chairman N Chandrasekaran, gathered at the Worli crematorium to pay their respects. Prominent political figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, were also in attendance.

The last rites followed Parsi traditions and were overseen by a priest at the crematorium. Further rituals are set to take place at Tata's Colaba residence over the next three days. Ratan Tata, who was 86, passed away following a brief illness.
