Ancestral Futures: Celebrating 35 Years of Artistic Legacy at Gallery Espace

Gallery Espace, a hallmark in the Indian contemporary art scene, is marking its 35th anniversary with 'Ancestral Futures,' an exhibit scheduled from October 18 to December 12. Spearheaded by Swiss curator Damien Christinger, the show reflects on the gallery's storied past while eyeing future art practices.

'Ancestral Futures' explores the thematic connection between history and identity, using art as a means to understand and challenge current societal issues. The exhibit features a diverse lineup of Indian and international artists, including Arunkumar HG and Ashish Sahoo, inviting reflection on artistic heritage and forward-thinking art.

The gallery will also host a series of lectures to complement the exhibition. Co-curator Renu Modi notes that this blend of retrospection and foresight underscores the gallery's influence over the years. The celebration continues with 'Memory Fields' at Bikaner House, featuring past and present artists like MF Husain.
