In a recent diplomatic visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed a Laotian adaptation of the Ramayan, celebrating the cultural bonds between India and Laos. The event underscored the two nations' shared heritage and age-old civilizational links.
Prime Minister Modi's participation in the ASEAN-India and East Asia summits also included witnessing the Lao Ramayan episode, Phalak Phalam, performed by the Royal Theatre of Luang Prabang. This adaptation has roots tracing back to Buddhist missions in the 16th century, highlighting India's cultural influence in the region.
Additionally, Modi attended a blessing ceremony led by senior Buddhist monks and visited an exhibition on the Vat Phou temple restoration by the Archaeological Survey of India, which symbolizes India-Laos historical ties.
