The city of Jamshedpur, often referred to as 'Tatanagar', is enveloped in mourning following the death of esteemed industrialist Ratan Tata. The government of Jharkhand announced a day of mourning on Thursday, honoring a leader whose visionary work propelled Jamshedpur to international renown.

Ratan Tata's first visit to the city was in the 1960s, and over the years, he forged a strong connection with it. His leadership saw the expansion of Tata Steel into a global powerhouse, deeply transforming Jharkhand into a promising region since it became a state in 2000. His influence extended across Jamshedpur, leaving indelible marks on its economy and society.

News of his death at age 86 in Mumbai left the community in grief. Tributes poured in as people gathered at the Tata Centre to reminisce about his numerous contributions, which include regular participation in Founder's Day celebrations and initiating significant infrastructure and healthcare projects, like the upgrade of the Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital.
