In a significant outpouring of grief, thousands of people assembled at Mumbai's National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) on Thursday, paying their respects to the legendary Ratan Tata. Tata, who passed away at the age of 86, was more than just an industry icon; he was a national treasure.
The hearse carrying Tata's body, adorned with white flowers, journeyed from his Colaba home to the NCPA. A distinguished assembly, including political and corporate luminaries like Sharad Pawar, Raj Thackeray, Kumar Mangalam Birla, and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, gathered to pay homage.
Maharashtra honored Tata with a state funeral, as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a day of mourning. The national flag is flown at half-mast in a somber tribute, reflecting the monumental loss of a visionary leader who transformed the Tata Group into a global powerhouse.
