On a diplomatic visit to India, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, experienced firsthand the exquisite allure of the Taj Mahal. Struggling to capture the monument's grandeur in words, the President highlighted the architectural magnificence and profound historical significance of the 17th-century site.

The visiting dignitaries were warmly received with a replica of the Taj Mahal, courtesy of Uttar Pradesh Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, representing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During their visit, the Maldivian leaders expressed keen interest in understanding the intricate inlay work, the maintenance of the iconic gardens and fountains, and the monument's storied past.

The monument remained closed briefly to accommodate the presidential visit, allowing Muizzu and his delegation to explore uninterrupted. Their itinerary also included a visit to Shilpgram, an open-air crafts village, where they were treated to a performance by local artistes, further enriching the cultural experience of their Indian sojourn.
