Anora to Shine as Closing Film at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival

The prestigious MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will wrap up its six-day event with the South Asia premiere of Anora, the acclaimed winner of the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Festival de Cannes. Helmed by Sean Baker, the film deftly mixes comedy and drama, providing a thorough critique of wealth, privilege, and the American dream.

Anora, set in Brooklyn, delves into the tumultuous life of a sex worker, portrayed by Mikey Madison, who inadvertently gets entangled with the Russian mafia. Anu Rangachar, Head of International Programming at MAMI, announced that selecting Anora as the festival's closing film is "a fitting tribute," honoring Baker's significant contribution to cinema.

The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, featuring over 110 films across 50 languages, will run from October 19 until October 24. Film enthusiasts can expect a diverse mix of both feature and non-feature films. Warner Bros. Discovery will handle the distribution of Anora in India.
