The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of Andhra Pradesh expressed approval of the Supreme Court's directive to form an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT). This team is tasked with probing allegations concerning animal fat use in the preparation of Tirupati laddus.
Spokesperson Pattabhiram Kommareddy emphasized the state's goal to uncover the truth and bring offenders to justice, noting the widespread sentiment fueled by the accusations. The Supreme Court affirmed the SIT's structure, composed of officials from the CBI, Andhra Pradesh Police, and a senior from FSSAI, under the CBI Director's guidance.
The allegations have caused nationwide uproar among devout Hindus, as TTD and NDDB now collaborate to maintain the purity of laddu ingredients, following accusations from the state's Chief Minister of past malpractices.
