Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday encouraged tourists to keep Uttarakhand clean during their visits. He said the picturesque state feels like home to him, similar to Arunachal Pradesh. Visitors, he mentioned, often leave behind plastic and other waste, marring the state's beauty.

Rijiju participated in cleanliness programs organized to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birthday under the Swachhata Hi Seva-2024 initiative. He recounted his experiences visiting various locations in the state, noting its appealing landscapes and the importance of maintaining them.

The minister also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Alongside state officials, he honored cleanliness workers and planted a Rudraksha sapling as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign.
