Banerjee addressed the recent protests that erupted following the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College.

During the inaugurations, Banerjee took a strong stand against those tarnishing Bengal's image, referring to the state as a mother figure. She condemned efforts to malign the state, emphasizing that such actions are futile. Junior doctors have staged protests demanding better safety measures in hospitals, adding to the tense climate.
