In a heartbreaking event in Bihar's Gaya district, two Boy Scouts lost their lives while bathing in the Phalgu River, an official confirmed on Wednesday.

The Scouts, affiliated with Bharat Scouts and Guides, were volunteering during the Pitripaksh Mela but visited a non-designated bathing area on the fair's last day. Tragically, two of the five cadets drowned.

District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M reported that prompt action by the State Disaster Management Authority saved the other three cadets. An ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh has been given to the families of the deceased.
