Several teams consisting of the Army, police, and forest department personnel have been deployed across the forests of Udaipur district in search of a man-eating leopard that has recently killed seven people, officials confirmed.
With an alarming rise in fatalities, forest authorities issued a shoot-to-kill order on Tuesday. This directive followed the death of a 55-year-old woman, Kamla Kanwar, who was attacked outside her home while feeding livestock in Suawaton ka Gudha.
Teams equipped with shooters are combing the area, aided by local residents, with cages installed at strategic points. Deputy Conservator of Forest (Udaipur North), Ajay Chittora, mentioned that all teams are working in a coordinated manner to locate the errant predator. Police have advised residents of Gogunda and nearby areas to stay vigilant and remain indoors.
