The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has applauded the Maharashtra government's recent declaration of indigenous cows as 'Rajyamata-Gomata', urging other states to adopt similar measures.

On Monday, Maharashtra recognized 'desi' cows considering their historical importance, nutritional value, and their contributions to ayurvedic treatments and organic farming, according to a government resolution. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal praised the decision, highlighting its alignment with religious, cultural, economic, and spiritual values from Vedic life.

Bansal expressed confidence that this move would honor Article 48 of the Constitution, which advocates for the advancement of agriculture and animal husbandry on scientific grounds, and the preservation and improvement of cow breeds. This legislation also prohibits the slaughter of cows and other productive livestock.
