Italy has thrown its hat into the crowded ring vying to host the 2029 Women's European Championship. Competing against Germany, Poland, Portugal, and a joint Denmark-Sweden bid, Italy seeks to leverage cities excluded from hosting the men's Euro 2032.
UEFA's executive committee will announce the winning bid in December 2024. In a related event in Switzerland, the 2025 Women's Euro host kicked off ticket sales with a penalty shootout at the peak of Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest altitude train station.
The 2025 and 2029 championships will both feature 16 teams and eight stadiums. Italy's soccer federation sees hosting as a way to honor cities not involved in the men's Euro 2032. Swiss organizers are confident in their ability to match England's successful Euro 2022, with 250,000 of 720,000 tickets already sold.
