Sohail Abbas, Pakistan's celebrated penalty corner specialist, has inked a one-year contract with the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) to assist players in mastering drag-flicking techniques.

Abbas, who has consciously avoided coaching roles with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), is hailed as Pakistan's highest international goal-scorer with 348 goals in 311 matches. He signed the contract with MHC in Kuala Lumpur recently.

He will collaborate with Malaysia's head coach, Surjit Singh, to enhance the players' penalty corner conversion skills.

Despite previous attempts by the PHF to recruit him for coaching assignments, Abbas declined their offers.

Previously, he even canceled a meeting with PHF Secretary Asif Bajwa upon realizing it pertained to coaching discussions.

Abbas, the nephew of another Pakistani Olympian, Safdar Abbas, last participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where Pakistan lost in the semifinals.
