West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday highlighted the urgent need to assist flood-affected residents during Durga Puja, as many districts are inundated with floodwater.
Banerjee described the situation as 'man-made,' pointing to the release of excessive water from DVC barrages following heavy rainfall in neighboring states. 'We must bring a smile to the faces of those affected,' she said, emphasizing aid distribution even during the festival.
The chief minister announced initiatives to supply rice, dry fruits, and other essentials to those in need and highlighted the cultural harmony in Bengal where various communities celebrate festivals together. She also inaugurated three fire stations and distributed e-cycles to policewomen.
