VHP Urges Garba Organizers to Restrict Non-Hindus
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has appealed to Garba event organizers to restrict non-Hindus from attending during the Navratri festival. They propose checking Aadhaar cards for entry, ensuring all participants demonstrate devotion to Goddess Bhagwati, and implementing specific practices like applying a 'tilak' and bowing before the Goddess' picture.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday called on the organizers of Garba events to restrict non-Hindus from participating in the Navratri celebrations.
According to VHP Maharashtra-Goa regional secretary Govind Shende, entry to these Garba dance events should be strictly regulated by checking Aadhaar cards, allowing only Hindus to participate.
The VHP believes that those without faith in the Goddess Bhagwati could cause disturbances and hurt religious sentiments. Therefore, they suggest additional measures like marking a 'tilak' on participants' foreheads and requiring them to bow before a picture of the Goddess.
The nine-day Navratri festival, which starts on October 3, is considered a form of worship. Many Garba organizers have adhered to these guidelines for several years, Shende claimed.
