Superstar Rajinikanth underwent a non-surgical procedure on Tuesday to address an issue in the main blood vessel of his heart. A stent was placed to seal off a swelling, the hospital announced, amid a surge of prayers and well-wishes for his quick recovery.
Apollo Hospitals reported that the 73-year-old actor is stable and expected to be discharged in two days. The procedure was performed by Senior Interventional Cardiologist Dr Sai Satish, who placed a stent in the aorta to treat the swelling.
Political figures such as Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi and Chief Minister M K Stalin, along with fans and colleagues, have publicly wished Rajinikanth a speedy recovery. The star's forthcoming film 'Vettaiyan,' featuring an ensemble cast, will be released on October 10.
