In a significant cultural initiative, a collaboration between a local cultural organisation and UNESCO is providing a unique opportunity to appreciate the intricate artworks displayed in 26 Kolkata Durga Puja pandals ahead of the festival.
Enthusiasts are being treated to a guided tour titled 'Preview Show of Durga Puja Art,' which includes not just community pujas, but also those of several aristocratic households. This marks the third year of the initiative, which follows UNESCO's 2021 recognition of Kolkata's Durga Puja as an Intangible Heritage.
The event was officially inaugurated on September 30 by state minister and Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Firhad Hakim at the Tala Prattoy community puja pandal, with diplomatic representation from Germany, Peru, Ecuador, Belgium, Cyprus, and Ireland. A concurrent exhibition titled 'Making of Durga Puja Art' is also taking place at Town Hall, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the artistic process.
