A prominent Sikh American leader has called for Punjab to be declared a free investment zone and urged the establishment of a military academy in Anandpur Sahib to accelerate the region's development.
Jasdip Singh Jasse, chairman of Sikhs of America, emphasized that Punjab's prosperity is crucial for India's overall growth. He highlighted the state's difficult history, particularly during the militancy and extremism of the 1980s and 1990s, which hindered its progress.
In a recent statement, Jasse appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to incentivize businesses and create more opportunities within Punjab to curb the emigration of its youth. Jasse, who recently met with the Prime Minister in New York, expressed gratitude for the efforts towards Sikh community welfare and announced plans for a Sikh delegation from the US to present further development recommendations for Punjab.
