In an intriguing move for film buffs, Kirsten Dunst is slated to star alongside Channing Tatum in the forthcoming true crime flick 'Roofman,' directed by Derek Cianfrance. Dunst, who recently garnered acclaim for her role in A24's 'Civil War,' is set to portray a pivotal character in a gripping narrative.

The plot centers on Jeffrey Manchester, infamous as the 'Rooftop Robber,' who notoriously infiltrated over 60 McDonald's outlets via their roofs. His modus operandi involved corralling the staff into freezers while he emptied cash registers, all without violence. Deadline reports the film will explore Manchester's daring crimes and subsequent capture.

Manchester's tale is far from over though. Convicted in 2000, he managed a bold escape, eluding authorities by hiding in a 'Toys 'R Us' and 'Circuit City' in North Carolina. Surviving on baby food and maintaining fitness on toy store bicycles, his run ended when fingerprints on a 'Catch Me If You Can' DVD led to his recapture.

Dunst's role will see her as a financially struggling Toys 'R Us employee raising two daughters, unaware that Manchester has been watching her from within the store. This observation evolves into a romantic and complex relationship, extending even after she learns of his criminal background.

As reported by Deadline, the film's script is crafted by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, with production by Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker under the Limelight banner, joined by longtime collaborators Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell Taylor. (ANI)
