Bollywood actor Govinda suffered leg injuries on Tuesday when his revolver accidentally discharged at his Mumbai home. He was preparing to leave for the airport, police confirmed.
Govinda, who is 60, later reassured fans through a statement, saying that doctors successfully removed the bullet. He credited his recovery to the support of his fans and divine blessings.
'With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now. The bullet has been removed, and I thank Dr. Agarwal ji and everyone for their prayers,' Govinda stated in an audio message.
The actor was hospitalized but is now recuperating at home and is out of danger, according to a Mumbai police official.
Govinda's manager Shashi Sinha explained that the mishap occurred around 4.45 am when he was placing his licensed revolver in a cupboard, and the trigger was accidentally pressed.
He was admitted to Criti Care Hospital for treatment. Despite the incident, no formal complaint has been filed, and police have started an investigation.
Known for roles in over 165 Hindi films, Govinda last appeared in 2019's 'Rangeela Raja.' In a political move, he joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in March, marking his return to politics after nearly 20 years.
