Angelina Jolie has officially withdrawn her lawsuit against the Department of Justice and the FBI concerning the 2016 plane incident involving her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, E! News has confirmed.
Court documents indicate the dismissal was finalized with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. The agreement entails each party bearing its own legal fees. Initially filed in April 2022 under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Jolie was anonymously named as 'Jane Doe.'
The lawsuit sought access to documents on an alleged domestic violence incident aboard a private jet, during which Pitt allegedly assaulted Jolie and their children. These allegations align with an FBI report from the flight on September 14, 2016. Despite the serious accusations, federal authorities chose not to charge Pitt.
Jolie, who filed for divorce shortly after the incident, argued that the FBI documents were crucial for her children's medical care. However, a judge denied her request to seal the case. Despite their legal single status since 2019, Jolie and Pitt continue to dispute over assets, including Chateau Miraval in France.
Recently, Jolie's attorney stressed her client's desire for resolution, urging Pitt to end the ongoing legal battles and promote family healing.
