Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has leveled serious allegations against the Hemant Soren government, claiming efforts are being made to render the Odia language extinct in Jharkhand. Speaking at a rally in Jagannathpur, West Singhbhum district, as part of the BJP's 'Parivartan Yatra', Majhi highlighted the plight of Odia-speaking people, describing them as 'second-class citizens'.
Majhi emphasized that although Odisha and Jharkhand are separate states, they share historical ties and continue to have a significant Odia-speaking population. He criticized the Jharkhand government for neglecting the Odia language and failing to appoint teachers. He accused the state administration of conspiring to erase the language.
Promising change under a potential BJP government, Majhi assured that appointments of Odia teachers would be approved, their honorarium doubled, and arrears cleared. He also promised free textbooks for Odia students and new school buildings. Majhi advocated for a 'double-engine government' in Jharkhand, drawing parallels to BJP's governance in Odisha.
