The Andhra Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) announced on Monday that it will conduct a comprehensive investigation into allegations of using animal fat in the preparation of the renowned Tirupati laddus during the former YSRCP administration.
SIT chief Sarvashresth Tripathi confirmed that the team will scrutinize Tamil Nadu's AR Dairy, the accused supplier of adulterated ghee. The case, initially registered at Tirupati East police station, is now under SIT jurisdiction.
TDP sources quoted Tripathi stating that three teams have been constituted for the investigation, and all individuals involved in the supply of adulterated ghee will be thoroughly examined, although no timeline for the report submission has been set.
Guntur Range IGP disclosed that SIT officials would be questioning members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, along with officials and workers. As part of the investigation, SIT plans to visit multiple sites, including AR Dairy Foods in Tamil Nadu and the Tirumala laddu kitchen.
On Monday, SIT officials inspected ghee storage tankers, the boondhi potu (the facility where laddu ingredients are prepared), and monitored ghee usage.
