Sexual Assault Allegations Shake Malayalam Film Industry

A sexual assault case has been registered against prominent makeup artist Saji Koratty in the Malayalam film industry after a woman's complaint. The Justice K Hema Committee report exposed widespread harassment, leading to multiple FIRs and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Police have officially registered a sexual assault case against noted makeup artist Saji Koratty in the film industry, based on a complaint filed by a female professional.

The allegations derive from a woman's statement before the government-appointed Justice K Hema Committee, which highlighted the harassments and exploitations women face in the film industry.

The complainant approached the Kollam police, whose statement was then forwarded to the Ponkunnam police in the district where the alleged crime took place.

A FIR was registered against the accused last week, and the case was subsequently handed over to the SIT on Monday, as confirmed by Ponkunnam police.

Authorities have charged the accused under various sections of the IPC, including Section 354 for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.

The Justice K Hema Committee report has led to multiple FIRs against high-profile Malayalam film personalities, further revealing the exploitation and sexual assaults endured by women professionals in the industry.
