VVS Laxman accepted his role with initial trepidation, but now stands as a contented leader at BCCI's Centre of Excellence. Known as one of cricket's greats, Laxman has been instrumental in solidifying a robust talent 'supply chain' to ensure India's dominance in world cricket for the coming decade.
Laxman took the reins from Rahul Dravid in 2021 and has since built upon a strong foundation at the erstwhile National Cricket Academy. The facility, now a Centre of Excellence, was inaugurated on Sunday. Laxman's tenure was extended by another year after his initial term ended earlier this year.
Laxman highlighted the significant talent pool for both men's and women's cricket in India, confidently stating that the country is blessed with abundant talent. His approach emphasizes nurturing this talent without altering their natural game, fostering synergy with state associations, and focusing on players' mental well-being. Annual 'A' tours also play a crucial role in preparing players for international arenas.
