Gurgaon, dubbed the millennium city, is now being referred to as 'koodagram' or garbage dump due to perceived mismanagement by the BJP, according to Congress' Vardhan Yadav. Once prosperous, the city is struggling with infrastructure issues, crime, and mismanaged civic amenities.
Yadav, National Secretary of Indian Youth Congress (IYC), will contest against BJP veteran Rao Narbir Singh and Kumudni, wife of the late MLA Rakesh Daultabad, in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Gurgaon, which contributes 65% of Haryana's tax revenue, is grappling with a messy civic infrastructure, traffic chaos, widespread sewerage problems, and constant waterlogging.
Historically, Congress has performed poorly in this constituency. However, Yadav plans to transform Gurgaon with a new urban manifesto focusing on timely sewerage cleaning and efficient waste management. Noteworthy Congress leaders are backing Yadav, and he believes his fresh perspective could challenge the extensive political network of his opponents.
